About

Miss Kitty’s Cat House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) cat rescue organization, EIN# 20-2587098. Our mission is to rescue kittens and cats and find them loving, forever homes.

History

Miss Kitty's Cat House has been in operation since 2002, when it was started by Lolli McAllister.  In the fall of 2002, Carolyn Taylor became the full-time Director. The original location was in a small rented bungalow on Granite Street, right next to N.O.A.H.  In 2005, Director Carolyn Taylor was able to obtain the non-profit status of 501(c)(3) with the I.R.S. and Miss Kitty's officially became a non-profit Arizona Corporation.

A wonderful lady by the name of Bess Brumbly made an endowment to Miss Kitty's with the stipulation that it be used to find a permanent home for us.  Miss Kitty's was able to purchase a historic Victorian home at 302 North Alarcon in Prescott, AZ.  This wonderful house was renovated with the help of dedicated volunteers. On July 1, 2010, adoptable cats were transferred to their new beautiful temporary home to be cared for until they could be adopted to their forever homes.

All  adoptable adult cats, 1 year and older, reside at the house and are free to roam about and take advantage of the many windows, cat perches, cat beds and furniture that make the house a pleasant temporary home for them, until they are adopted.  All of the cats are cared for by our dedicated volunteers.  Volunteers are scheduled for every morning and late afternoon for cleaning the house, feeding, brushing, cleaning litter boxes and generally loving on the cats.  We also have those volunteers who assist with socializing the cats, working on the adoption and intake crews.

Miss Kitty's adopts all of our kittens out of the Prescott Petsmart Store which is located next to Costco in Prescott.  Whenever we have kittens available for adoption, they are brought to Petsmart by our kitten fosters on Saturday (10 AM till 2 PM) and Sunday (11 AM till 2 PM).  Since 2008, Miss Kitty's has found forever homes for over 5,000 plus cats and kittens.

Miss Kitty's could not provide all of its services if it were not for all of the dedicated volunteers who keep the facility running and those in the community and beyond who so generously donate to us financially.

Miss Kitty's invites you to be a part of this great organization so that we may continue rescuing and finding "forever" homes for all of our cats.  We are always looking for good volunteers, especially those that can foster adult cats or kittens.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, you can either call our house and leave a message or email us via our contact page.
